ABOUT ME
Have you ever taken a wrong turn in the right direction?
This is what happened to me. From a young age I wanted to be a children's Clinical Psychologist, at 23 I started with the Open University studying Psychology whilst working 3 different jobs and juggling family commitments and trying to have a life. Turns out, as my grades would indicate, this does not make you a good student.
At 33 still determined the clinical psychology was the route for me I started at Winchester University, only to end up back online studying due to Covid. Still I continued determined to achieve a goal that I had set at 17. Then my niece had an "ABC of yoga book", as we did the postures together, we started to also chat about other things and I saw what a lovely way this was to help children communicate. I decided to see if there was a course for this, as I love a course, and I am often found doing 3 at once. To my delight I found one that fitted in with my university work and started to study and then to teach once I had passed the course.

I am not sure if it was me who found yoga or yoga who found me, but as my passion of teaching grew I started to look for courses to teach adults and then teen and then on to a SEN yoga and well being course. Still stubbornly thinking that I would use all of these tools when I qualified as a Clinical Psychologist. The Universe had another idea however, one that I had clearly been ignoring, which became very clear as it came to my final assignment that I just could not pass.
During a long appeal for a third attempt at my assignment I decided to look at other options. As I had fallen madly in love with yoga and teaching 1:1 it seemed that this would be the natural progression and I would just make this my new focus. Then when I got told I could not have another attempt, leaving me with an ordinary degree in Psychology and Child Development, I accepted what I believe was in front of me all along, that being a Psychologist was not my destination. I do feel like the Universe is having a good laugh, as it also gave me a very neurospicy brain with hypermobility and no proprioception, due to dyspraxia. Just for fun it also sprinkled in some colour blindness and dyslexia.
I found a yoga therapy course that I studied for 2 years, whilst of course completing some other courses such as NLP, Somatic healing, Sports massage, cultivating intimacy and lots of different types of yoga courses. I then discovered that I had actually completed enough credits to gain a second, well first technically, ordinary degree with the Open University.

It is with all of this training and life experience that I now call myself an Holistic Health Practitioner. Where I get to help people heal by aligning their emotional, physical, sexual, environmental and spiritual self's, in conjunction with modern medicine utilising ancient traditions. A role I am very grateful for.
